Currently & a Request for Recommendations

It’s that time of the month for linking up with Farley for the awesomeness that is the monthly Currently linky!

My help request:

Next term I’m going to be teaching persuasive writing with my Grade 1s. I’m looking for some great picturebooks to highlight persuasive writing. I’d love to hear your recommendations and at the end of the week I’m going to be ordering some books for the first half of term.

I already have a stack of Mo Willem’s Pigeon books, which I plan on using, but I’d love some alternative suggestions!

Cheers,

  1. Evening Stef!

We also have 2 weeks holidays 🙂 It’s so awesome so have all the time to relax and plan ahead for next term.

It IS so hard to to take a break when we’re all always thinking about next term and the activities we want to have out little ones complete!

    I found you through Farly’s Currently 🙂

    • Hey Liz,

Hope you’ve had a good start to your holidays!

Sadly (ok, not so sad, I don’t feel bad about it!), I spent all day in at school, organising. But I feel all the better for it!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Visiting from April’s Currently.

Have you read I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman Orloff? I love using it as a persuasive writing springboard. Students seem to identify with the main character wanting a pet. Just a thought!

    Have a happy break!

  3. Hi Stef
My teaching partner has used “Can I Have a Stegosaurus, Mom? Can I? Please!?” by Lois G Grambling. I have plans to do some activities for my store but haven’t quite made it to that yet! Jody

  5. Your blog is adorable! I wish I could think of books to use with persuasive writing, but I’m drawing a blank. I’m also HORRIBLE about taking breaks. I do spend a little too much time playing Candy Crush, but outside of that since I started blogging and selling on TPT I feel just a little guilty any time I do something other than create.

Hope you get some rest this week!
    Faith 🙂

    • Hehe – it’s all good, Faith! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment. I know the feeling of feeling guilty about not creating. Oh well – we do what we do because we love it… can’t feel too guilty about it.

      Cheers,
      Stef
